Olympia Georgeson

Childrenadolescentstherapist

I’m a pre-licensed Professional Mental Health Psychoanalyst studying at the University of Pennsylvania and interning at St. Elizabeths Hospital in DC.  I believe the path towards growth begins with a dream: the desire to reach your full potential.  Maybe you must heal.  Maybe you want to turn self-defeating beliefs into positive affirmations.  Maybe you are stuck in the same relational patterns.  Or maybe you want to undergo personality or character change.  Whatever it is, the way you tell your story with me can make all the difference in your journey towards self-actualization.

In our first session, we will uncover whether you need symptom relief or to work through interpersonal problems, maladaptive patterns to create adaptive behaviors, or deep-rooted problems.

In the exploration stage and insight stage, I will work alongside you to tell your life narratives, and then I will use challenges to disrupt problematic narratives; finally, we will use interpretations to help you rewrite your narrative in a more productive light and to think about your concerns from different perspectives to take corrective action.  Thus, we will fine-tune your self-awareness and hone your insightfulness so that you are readily equipped to enhance yourself and ultimately your life.  Self-awareness is the first step towards change in one’s life.

In the action stage, based on behavioral therapy, we will develop an integrated plan to achieve mental health expansion and wellness and overcome your obstacles—often combining the practices of Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Therapy, Cognitive Emotive Therapy, Adlerian Therapy, Jungian Therapy, and Existential Therapy.

I work under the supervision of Isabel Kirk, LPC
